This class is an invitation to discover or rediscover Memphis Slim from a new angle: that of dance. Through his notes, let yourself be transported on a journey to the heart of the blues, where every step, every movement, tells a story. Memphis Slim used to say that the blues is β€œthe music of life”. It's up to us to bring it to life, together, on the dance floor.

BLUES FROM AFRICA ( Blues couple)Share

African blues, often called β€œdesert blues” for its resonance with the vast expanses of the Sahara, is a genre that blends African musical traditions with elements of Western blues. Tinariwen, a Tuareg band from Mali, and Ali Farka TourΓ©, one of Africa's greatest guitarists, are emblematic figures of this style. Their music, marked by hypnotic rhythms, haunting melodies and spiritually-infused lyrics, transports listeners into unique soundscapes.

WHAT IS GROOVE ?(solo)Share

This course is designed to immerse participants in the essence of rhythm and movement, exploring what makes a dance or a piece of music irresistibly catchy. Groove is not just a rhythm, but a feeling, a state of being, a deep connection between body, music and emotion.
This course aims to awaken participants to the notion of groove, to give them the tools to feel and express it through dance, and to encourage them to integrate this essential dimension into the way they listen to and dance to music.

A β€œcall and response” blues couple class focuses on interaction and communication between partners, taking up a fundamental element of blues music where a pattern (the β€œcall”) is followed by a complementary response (the β€œresponse”).
